The project of flood storage and detention basins will start in Huayang River, Anhui Province, according to the Feasibility Study Report approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. The project crosses Anhui and Hubei provinces, and the part in Anhui is located in Anqing, including the construction and reconstruction of seven new security zones, two major pumping stations and other buildings. This project is one of the 150 major water conservancy projects released by the State Council. It becomes the province’s water conservancy project with the largest investment after diverting water from the Yangtze River to the Huaihe River. The flood storage and detention project will significantly improve the overall flood control system in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and guarantee the flood control safety and the sustainable development of regional economy.
